Nurture stress-free independence with practical and proven self-defence training
Krav Maga is a complete self-defence system that helps kids learn about personal safety. Students develop situational awareness and learn to use quick and efficient techniques to avoid and exit dangerous situations.
All lessons are curriculum-based. Your child will learn to apply critical skills under stress in an age-appropriate manner:
Stances: Stay aware with eyes up and hands up
Blocking: Avoid getting struck by people and objects
Striking: Palm strikes, punches, kicks, knees, and elbows
Target Zones: Strike for maximum efficiency
Scenario-specific: Learn to distinguish between scenarios (stranger vs. schoolmate) and utilize appropriate and effective self-defence
Attire: Comfortable athletic wear - no uniform required!

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a fun and competitive grappling sport. Students learn respect and resilience by being good training partners to each other while taking personal responsibility for their own performance.

Takedowns & wrestling
Positions & pinning
Escapes & reversals
Submissions
Understanding the point system for competition
Live grappling
After 6 months of training, eligible students are invited to try out for the competition team and participate in local Ontario BJJ tournaments (optional).
Attire: BJJ Gi (uniform) for gi classes/ NoGi kit (rashguard + shorts for NoGi classes.

The best style for your child is the one they enjoy most and that fits with your family’s schedule.
Ideally, kids should train in both striking (Krav Maga) and grappling (BJJ). Training both styles offers protection for child and peace of mind for parent as they grow and become more independent.

Krav Maga: We follow the CT 707 system.
BJJ: We follow the IBJJF Belt grading system.
Gradings are conducted twice a year in December and May. There is no fee for belt gradings at House of Combat.
